Aligning Dreaming Planning Organizing Serving Celebrating Learning Ministry Communicorps
The ROC (Recreation Outreach Center) Logo

The ROC is the name of this church's Recreation Outreach Center. This logo replaces an existing design that was very unattractive. In designing the new logo, the importance of a colorful, playful and powerful look was paramount. The leaders in this ministry also felt a cross element was important.

The new logo uses an oval shape to suggest stability. There's also a color "horizon" within the shape and lettering, to suggest reaching a higher "level" of performance in physical and spiritual life. The "Saturn ring" around the logo is tilted to be playful, but also is suggestive that the ministry is "all encompassing"--that the ROC is about every element of life and making it better.

Most of this symbolism is lost on the average person, but it's important, I think, to be purposeful in design so a logo's meaning is clearly in keeping with the thing it represents.
