Great Adventure Missions Emphasis

2004 was the Year of Missions at this church. Throughout the year, mission projects and opportunities for missions involvement were emphasized. The overriding theme for the year is "The Great Adventure." Graphics for the emphasis centered on creating a "classic" world traveler motif. The logo contained texture to make it look older. Devotional guides had a worn leather look on the cover with pages that were aged in appearance. Several postmarks and travel stamps from the 1930s were ghosted in the backgrounds of many of the promotional pieces. Finally, stock illustrations of travel icons like suitcases, safari hats, binoculars and a globe were used throughout the campaign.

Typefaces for the emphasis included a clogged and tattered font replicating an old manual typewriter. Text faces were also from the 1930s, and forms and information included fonts designed for engraving as early as the 1920s. All of these typefaces added an old-style charm and authenticity to the designs.

Logo and type design

Project specifications:
Typefaces used are Adobe Palatino (serif) and P22 Cezanne (script). The logo itself was given an aged appearance by filling it with abstract graphic background elements from Photodisc and then altering the color scheme. The lowercase and underlined "U" is meant to suggest that every individual is to be involved in the Great Adventure of missions.
