Aligning Dreaming Planning Organizing Serving Celebrating Learning Ministry Communicorps
Cry Freedom

A patriotic program came on the heels of September 11, 2001 --this church's "God and country" emphasis following the terrorist attacks. Among several suggestions for a name was the phrase "Cry Freedom," which I think was inspired by a scene from the movie Braveheart. The name expressed a sentiment many of us had at the time--that we weren't about to give up our basic freedoms as a result of terrorist attacks. In fact, we were going to celebrate freedom load and clear.

The graphics associated with the program were open and austere--the same kind of type you would see on a monument or government building. Simple, elegant and understated, all the white space made the sliver of American flag the focus of attention.
