About the "Target" Design
I've always thought that a target would make a suitable logo for a church, because it speaks to the idea of being "on target" or focused properly. In life, our target is Christ and His image and likeness in and through our own lives. I chose lighter colors for this logo to offset the starkness of the target image itself. It works well in all size applications.
Suggested Colors and Typefaces
Color selections (spot colors based on Pantone coated color selector): Pantone 382U and Cool Gray 5U. Process color options can be explored using the available Layered Photoshop File (PSD).
Typeface Used: Base Twelve by Emigre (Click here for purchasing information). This cryllic design introduced in 1995 was derived from converting bitmapped printing fonts to a vector font--giving it a wide and easily read demeandor. I think the font communicates a unique, modern flair, and the san serif style keeps it friendly and approachable. All caps lettering works particularly well in Base Twelve.
