About the "Light" Design
The sun motif with the cross at the center clearly communicates Christ as the origin of spiritual light for the world. At the same time the logo's light element seems to point back to Christ as well. I like this design for its simplicity--it doesn't take but a glance to "get it." And the logo works well in all size applications.
Suggested Colors and Typefaces
Color selections (spot colors based on Pantone uncoated color selector): Pantone 159U and 168U. Process color options can be explored using the available Layered Photoshop File (PSD).
Typeface Used: Democratica by Emigre (Click here for purchasing information). Released in 1991, this face is interesting in that its lowercase forms have strange serifs, some traditional, some more modern. It's this mix of old and new that gives the face it's unique look, suitable for logos and a few headlines, but not for general text applications. Interestingly, I have seen this face on quite a few music CDs over the years--it definitely makes a marked statement in style.
