About the "Life" Design
Here I chose to use the leaf motif to compliment the cross--juxtiposing life and death. The muted color pallette suggests that life comes from death, in this case, Jesus' death on the cross and subsequent resurrection. The aged pattern in the leaves gives the design a more modern appearance. I particularly like this logo as a modern take on the cross element in the design. Its only weakness in usage might be some decay in quality at smaller sizes.
Suggested Colors and Typefaces
Color selections (spot colors based on Pantone uncoated color selector): Pantone 168U and Cool Gray 10U. Process color options can be explored using the available Layered Photoshop File (PSD).
Typeface Used: Triplex by Emigre (Click here for purchasing information). Introduced in 1989, Triplex is available in both serif and san serif varieties, making it very versatile. I like the font because it works well as a display face and well as a text face (in limited applications). It has a pleasing appearance due to its wide counters and high x-height.
