About the "Common" Design
This is my more modern take on the very old Jerusalem cross design. Here the idea is to suggest both the cross itself, and the idea of a commons or meeting space--not unlike a colllege commons or "quad". The small insets on the corners make the design seem to point a bit toward its center, making the cross or Christ the focus of the logo. Interestingly, though I do not show it here, the logo also works well as a diamond, if tipped up 45 degrees to its diagonal.
Suggested Colors and Typefaces
Color selections (spot colors based on Pantone uncoated color selector): Pantone 2915U and 143U. Process color options can be explored using the available Layered Photoshop File (PSD).
Typeface Used: Triplex by Emigre (Click here for purchasing information). Introduced in 1989, Triplex is available in both serif and san serif varieties, making it very versatile. I like the font because it works well as a display face and well as a text face (in limited applications). It has a pleasing appearance due to its wide counters and high x-height.
