About the "Beacon" Design
A lighthouse has been used as a spiritual reference and metaphor for many years. The idea of Christ as light, and a bulwark in times of distress is clearly communicated in this logo. Especially appropriate for a church by the ocean, the logo's simple drawing style replicates suprisingly well at small sizes. My only disappointment in the design is the appearance of the reversed (white on dark) design, which does not work well.
Suggested Colors and Typefaces
Color selections (spot colors based on Pantone uncoated color selector): Pantone 128U, Warm Gray 2U and Warm Gray 6U. Process color options can be explored using the available Layered Photoshop File (PSD).
Typeface Used: Gill Sans by Monotype (Click here for purchasing information). This is modern late-twentieth-century face that works well as both a display and text face. I also think the font is great in upper/lower case as well as all-caps.
